Where else does Hawaii meet the Ottawa River? Come experience the thrill of paddling an outrigger canoe on the Ottawa River to discover this Polynesian paddling sport. The Ottawa River provides some fantastic conditions for Outrigger paddling. From our beautiful riverfront location on the Ottawa River, participants will have the opportunity to develop their paddling skills.
Join one of the ORCC Outrigger boats and experience the energy of a big boat in a fun and friendly environment. All outrigger participants must be a member of the Ottawa River Canoe Club. Please register at the tab below for one of the coached training sessions. Coached Training Sessions Practice sessions start in July and run until late September on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 pm (adjusted for daylight in September), and Saturday mornings from 7:00 am until 9:00.The sessions will include 8 practices with 6 of them coached and a final festival to challenge the team. Please note the festival fees are not included in the program fees. Session 1: July 4, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28 and August 1
Session 2: August 22, 25, 29 and September 5, 8, 12, 15, 19 Note: we train rain or shine, so dress appropriately. The only time a practice is cancelled is when there is an electrical storm or very strong winds. You will be on water with a breeze so wear removable layers. Footwear is recommended (watershoes or runners) but they will likely get wet. A secure hat and water bottle may be needed depending on weather. Saturday morning uncoached paddle Spend Saturday morning on the river paddling from 9am until 11 am. This is an uncoached session. Please register below to be included in the boat.
